Follow The Directions

01

Step
1 mins

Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add ginger, garlic, and cinnamon stick; sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.

02

Step
2 mins

Stir in rice; sauté until rice grains are opaque, about 2 minutes.

03

Step
15 mins

Stir in water, coconut milk, sugar, salt, lime zest, and white pepper; bring to a simmer. Stir once, cover, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 15 minutes.

04

Step
5 mins

Fluff rice with a fork, cover, and let rest for 5 minutes. Garnish servings with toasted coconut.

For a richer flavor, use full-fat coconut milk.
Toast the shredded coconut in a dry pan over medium heat, stirring frequently, until golden brown and fragrant. Watch carefully to prevent burning.
Jasmine rice can be substituted with basmati rice for a slightly different flavor profile.
Adjust the amount of sugar to your preference. Some may prefer a less sweet rice.
If you don't have fresh lime zest, a few drops of lime juice can be used as a substitute.
